From the Maker:
Hi I’m Sarah Daly – I’m a musician and ceramicist born in London and now living in Cliftonville, Margate. For 20 years I’ve been playing in indie band Scanners with my partner Mat and we compose music and create sound design for Film and TV, commercials and fashion brands. I’m now happier making functional ceramics in my home studio in Margate. I am inspired by the beautiful coastal horizons where I live. My pieces have simple angular forms with horizontal lines either carved into the clay or hand painted. My usual colour pallet ranges from black and white to yellow and turquoise. These colours change when using different coloured clays underneath. So I like to use a range of clays from white to dark brown. I then hand paint oxides and underglazes onto the clay. I add wood ash from nearby Blean wood to some of my glazes too.
